Artwork fills in the large space above the doors and furniture in the high-ceilinged bath.

Host Joan Kohn visits the renovated master suite of a couple whose love of antiques and attention to detail resulted in a unique bed and bath area. The bedroom already had a small companion bath, but they wanted a much more spacious, elegant area for dressing and bathing. The large new room has faux finished walls, high ceilings, important light fixtures, and numerous pieces of art filling the grand space above doorways and furniture. Instead of using the claw-footed tub they found in the basement of their home because its removal and reinstallation would have been too expensive, they used a resurfaced vintage tub from an architectural supply store. The fixtures for the tub are original to the house. A handpainted French bed and corona from the 1850s dresses up the bedroom, which is furnished with other antiques from their collection . In the bath, a beautiful hand-painted dresser from the 1920s, topped with an Italian mirror, lends refined elegance to the high-ceilinged room.
