The spirit of the 100-year-old home is best captured in the great hall, filled with exposed wood beams and natural stone.

Colors found in nature are used in the master bath: green, browns, khaki, yellow and white.
Host Joan Kohn visits with homeowners Ben and Judy Hofheimer, who have imaginatively blended the architecture of their 100-year-old log home with a contemporary addition .
  • The colors used in the first floor master suite complement and respond to the colors in nature: green, yellow, khaki, shades of brown and white. Judy Hofheimer likes using a lot of white in the bathroom to lighten and brighten the space.
  • Windows are trimmed in green, framing the beautiful natural scenes beyond.
  • Countertops and the trim around the platform bath are done in a variegated granite , Ooba-Tuba, that has deep greens, metallics and mother-of-pearl swirled through it . The same granite is used on the step-up to the tub, but in a less shiny finish for safety reasons.
  • The toilet and bidet area is only partially enclosed, allowing in light from the large windows.
  • Built-in storage, not originally planned, was used in the bedroom to compensate for the large size of the bathroom area.
