Materials:
2 clear shower curtains
scissors
small grommets
hammer and grommet nail to attach grommets
fun, colorful postcards
Note: You could also use photos, greeting cards you have received, magazine cutouts, excerpts from your favorite books, child's artwork, etc.
Steps:
- Place the shower curtain on a flat surface to reduce wrinkles and make adding grommets easy. A floor or work table is perfect.
- Using scissors or pinking shears, cut one clear shower curtain into pieces approximately 6" x 8" each if using all uniform shaped postcards. Otherwise, you will cut pieces about one inch larger on all sides than the card or picture you would like to showcase. Cut as many pieces as you need to cover the other shower curtain in an interesting pattern.
- Fold edges of each piece of cut clear plastic under about 1/2-inch press with fingers or with the edge of a ruler to make it retain shape. Now you have your pockets to add to the front of your shower curtain.
- With the first curtain laid out flat, place cut clear pockets in decorative pattern, randomly or lined up over the surface. Leave at least a three- to four-inch edge around all four sides of shower curtain to help keep moisture out.
- One by one grommet the pockets to curtain in chosen pattern. You should have grommets along both sides and bottom of clear plastic pockets, leaving top open to insert cards easily. Use small grommets about every 1/2-inch around the three sides.
- Repeat all over shower curtain with pockets until finished.
- Hang curtain in the shower as usual. Insert postcards to your liking for an instant gallery.
