The author of this book Florence de Dampierre has the most wonderful job: shes a furniture historian. And in this book she focuses on the chair, tracing it from ancient Egypt to today. Its a really fascinating read with great photographs and anecdotes. Harry N. Abrams; October, 2006; $65

In the Pink: Dorothy Draper Americas Most Fabulous Decorator
Born in a rich suburb of New York in 1889, you wouldnt expect Dorothy Draper (nee Tuckerman) to make much of a mark on style. But indeed she did, first as the decorator of her own homes and then of others in her society. She vanquished the doom and gloom of the Victorian era and mixed bold colors and patterns until her death at 80.
