Watch the Video: Build an organizer to keep mail, office supplies and some decorative items in a centralized location.
Materials:

1/2"-thick MDF (medium-density fiberboard)
miter saw
wood glue
brad nailer
jigsaw
primer
paint
paintbrushes

Steps:

Note: Since all kitchens are different, specific measurements aren't given so that you can customize this project to your needs.

1. The organizer is made up of several pieces: the front, back, bottom, two sides, a middle divider and pocket dividers. Make all of the necessary cuts using a saw, being sure to add the thickness of the two side pieces to the measurement of the front panel when cutting it. The back board should also be higher than the front board.
2. If desired, draw a curved detail for the front and back pieces on paper and transfer it to the two pieces. Cut it out using a jigsaw with a scroll blade. Add a scroll detail to highlight the front if desired.
3. Attach the front piece to the bottom using wood glue and brad nails, making sure it hides the bottom piece's front edge. Be sure the front is longer on both ends so the sides can be attached to the front and bottom, with the side edges hidden by the front. Secure the sides, and then the back piece with glue and brads.

4. Attach the pocket dividers to the middle divider using wood glue and brads, and then set it inside the main structure to check the fit (don't attach for easy cleaning) (figure A). Take it out for painting.
5. Prime and paint the organizer as desired, allowing it to dry between coats.
