Figure B
Carol demonstrates how to make functional and decorative box and basket dividers.
  1. Use 1/4" thick foam board to construct the dividers. Cut two pieces of the foam board to accommodate the length of the box or basket you're organizing. Cut two pieces of foam board to accommodate the width of the box or basket.
  2. For each piece of foam board, draw a line just above the center horizontally across the board.
  3. Beginning 2" in from the outside edges of the board, draw a vertical line downward from the horizontal line.
Repeat this step on the other end of the foam board. Draw these vertical lines on all four pieces of foam board (figure A).
  4. Create interlocking pieces by using a double-bladed utility knife to cut along the vertical lines, leaving two 1/4"grooves in each piece of foam board (figure B).
  5. Slide the grooves of the width pieces into the grooves of the length pieces to construct the dividers.
  6. Cover the foam board with an adhesive-backed fabric or contact paper, and place it inside the basket or box to create wonderful, customized organizers perfect for storing jewelry, craft supplies, etc.
