Materials:
large card stock sheets
Hot Potatoes rubber stamps
ink pads
rubber bands size #18
gift box (bracelet size)
Red line double-stick tape
The box has four panels. Each panel is supported by a folded box. These are what make the box "pop." For every panel of your pop-up, you will need a "folded box." Each folded box is made of a 14-1/4" x 2" piece of card stock
Steps:
1. Score across the length of the cardboard at 3/4 inches, then go down 2-1/2 inches and score, then another 2-1/2 inches and score, and another 2-1/2 inches and score, and finally 2-1/2 inches more and score, leaving 3-1/2 inches (figure A).
2. Fold on each scored line.
3. You will have to make notches to hold the rubber band securely. Straighten out the length of paper and make a notch on either side at the second 2-1/2-inch score line (figure B) and two more notches at the last 2-1/2-inch score line.
4. Slip the rubber band over the piece of cardstock. Secure the rubber band into the set of notches closest to an end of the paper (figure C), and then loop the rubber band up to the second set of notches (figure D).
5. Now refold the entire piece on all the score lines, creating a box with an extra panel crossing the diagonal of the box (figure E).
6. Tape the 3/4-inch tab, securing the box (figure F).
7. Now, repeat the above steps three more times for the card demonstrated with four panels.
8. Cut a piece of card stock the size of the bottom of the gift box.
9. Tape the first box down to this cardstock, and stack the other three on top of it, securing with glue or tape (figure G). Make sure that the diagonal cross pieces alternate in direction.
10. Stamp a greeting on a separate piece of card stock at least 10 inches tall (figure H).
11. Score every 2-1/2 inches (figure I).
12. Tape to stacked boxes (figure J). Put the lid on and give as a great gift!
