Project by Leila Steineckert.

Materials:

8-1/2" square text paper
6-1/4" square green card stock
1-3/4" x 6-1/2" green card stock
1-3/4" x 2-3/4" mat board
2" x 3" brown card stock
2-1/8" x 3-1/8" goldenrod card stock
1/4" x 6" corrugated paper
Lil Boss paper crimper
stipple brushes or sponges
rubber stamps & ink pads
8-1/2" x 9-l/2"paper for envelope
extra card stock for stamping pop-up images
glue
blow pen (optional)
ribbon to close card (optional)

Steps:

1. Using the 8-1/2" square paper, fold a point of the paper diagonally to the opposite corner. Repeat this same procedure for the other point on the square paper (figure A). The two folds will cross and form an X from point to point (figure B).

2. Cut on one of the creases from the point of the paper to the center of the paper. Then you will cut on that same section on the other side, leaving about 1/4-inch tab from the creased fold (figure C). A section of the paper will have been cut away, leaving three sections. Later, this tab will be glued to the back of the previous cut side of the paper.

3. Before you glue this, this is the time to stamp your designs on the paper. You will color your designs by stippling color on them with a brush and inkpad (figure D). This will form your first unit of the triangle.

4. Repeat the above steps to form four of the triangle units.

5. The side of triangle unit that has the tab will be the bottom base of the triangle unit. You will create a mountain-fold crease in the middle of this section to the middle of the paper (figure E). Glue the tab to the section nearest it to form your triangle section (figure F).

6. On the seam of your triangle unit, cut a tab that is 1/4-inch wide and about 2-1/2 inches from the top (figure G). This tab will hold your stamped cut-out for the pop-up (figure H).

7. Take a 2-1/2" x l/2" strip and fold over l/2 inch at a time until you have five folds. Glue the last fold to the top of the first fold, forming a square (figure I). This will be glued to the side and bottom of the triangle unit (figure J) to hold a stamped cutout for an another pop-up (figure K).

8. Fold the triangle units in half and glue the sides to each triangle unit (figure L).

9. For the covers, cut the 6-1/4" square of card stock diagonally from one corner to the opposite one, creating two triangles. Glue the covers to the front and back of the triangle units (figure M).

10. Take 1-3/4" x 6-1/2" piece of card stock and fold lengthwise in half to create the spine. Put this trim through a paper crimper and glue to the covers (figure N).

11. Stamp a mat board with various stamps (we used pear, mesh, and word stamps). Place the brown and goldenrod papers under it. Add brown webbing to the cover and glue corrugated trim to the side of the spine. Glue stamped mat board to the cover (figure O).

12. Decorate your covers by adding postage-designed stamps, charms, webbing, ribbons, and corrugated paper for trim or rubber stamped images.

13. To make a triangle envelope: Take the 8-1/2"x 9-l/2" text-weight paper and measure 2-1/4 inches in on one side. Crease this side there and fold the paper. On the side next to this fold, measure in 1-1/4 inches and crease and fold the paper again. The point of the paper, which has no folds, you will bring to the opposite side and fold on the 2-1/4-inch tab section. Glue this to the 2-1/4-inch fold, which will create your envelope.
