Materials:

18" x 14" red wool felt
1-1/2 yards of evergreen wool felt
18" x 14" Mediterranean mist or light gray wool felt
1/2 yard red duck cloth
red or yellow tracing paper
tracing wheel
red & green thread
straight-stitch sewing machine
fabric shears
small embroidery scissors
Clover faux chenille slash cutter (optional)
stitching pattern
washing machine & dryer
iron
pins
pinking shears
hand-sewing needle
lint roller (optional)

Steps:

1. Trace and cut out toe, heel, berries and leaves from red and green wool felt (figure A).

2. Cut one basic shape of stocking each from red, green, Mediterranean mist/gray felt and red duck.

3. Trace entire stocking and stitch lines on Mediterranean mist/gray stocking shape. Only outline the toe, heel, berries and leaves.

4. Edge-stitch toe and heel on gray body (figure B).

5. Cut gray away from underneath the red toe and heel, approximately 1/8 inch from the stitching line (figure C). Now the top and bottom will look the same.

6. Layer the stitched piece over the red stocking shape, then over the green stocking shape, and lastly over the red duck stocking piece (figure D). Pin all together.

7. Pin leaves and berries into place on the gray base (figure E).

8. Use red thread to sew all together on stitch lines. Restitch original edge stitching of toe and heel as well.
