What a pretty Christmas chain Francine Boyer of Los Angeles, Calif., sent in to the Shoebox. It was made like those paper chains we all made in grade school but this was of brightly colored Christmas fabrics and what a difference that made! Ive seen these in catalogs and admired them but not the price. Francine made hers by first selecting several different cotton fabric patterns and cutting them into workable-sized pieces. These she ironed to fusible webbing and then cut the fabric into 2" x 6" long strips. Francine then pulled the strips through one of those bias tape makers which folded the strips into thirds lengthwise however you can do that by hand if you do not have one of the bias tape folders. Iron the strips so they hold their creases and stay together and then make the chain using glue to hold the ends together. Very pretty. Very festive.
