Steps:1. Take one of the accordion cards and, with all panels folded together, make a diagonal cut so that one long side is 2-1/2 inches tall and the other edge is 4 inches tall (figure A).
2. Stamp the large dot stamp in white all over this accordion card. Use the colored pencils to color in each dot (figure B). Be sure that before you stamp, the accordion card will open so the first and second panel make a valley; the second and third panel would then create a peak
3. Use the line up stamp to stamp one side of each panel of the uncut accordion card with the white ink pad. Be sure that before you stamp, the accordion card will open so the first and second panels make a valley; the second and third panel would then create a peak. This ensures that the card will open properly once it is glued into the book. Color in each line with colored pencils (figure C).
4. Stamp over the colored lines with the atomic explosion stamp using the same white ink pad (figure D).
5. Take the uncut accordion card and attach a 2-inch piece of double-sided tape at the center of each decorated panel (figure E). Put another 2-inch piece of tape at each end so that it runs vertically up the very edge no more than 2-1/2 inches up.
6. Carefully line up the cut accordion card inside the uncut card and press to tape (figure F). You will have created eight little pockets for filling with recipes or photos.
7. To emboss the velvet ribbon: Heat the iron to the cotton setting. Very lightly mist the back of the entire piece of velvet ribbon. Lay your stamp with the rubber side facing up and lay your velvet face down on the stamp. Place the iron flatly over the entire rubber image and hold for about 10 to 20 seconds (figure G), until the velvet is completely dry. Avoid placing the steam holes over the area you are ironing or they will make an impression in your velvet as well. Repeat this process until all the velvet is embossed.
8. Apply adhesive to one full side of the book board (figure H).
9. Starting with the 3-inch ribbon, center it on the book board and smooth it down.
10. Repeat with the 2-inch ribbon on either side. Place the edges of the ribbon next to each other (figure I).
11. Turn the book board face down and apply glue 1 inch around the outside edges of the back. Cut the four corners of each piece of velvet leaving 1/4 inch of fabric between the point of the book board corner and your cutting line.
12. Fold over the ends of the velvet, producing your book's ends (figure J).
13. Choose the piece that will be the back cover of your accordion book and draw a line horizontally across the middle of the book board. Place a small dot of adhesive in the center of this line. Repeat for the other piece of book board.
14. Take the narrow ribbon for tying the book together and place the very center point on the dot of glue with the right side up (figure K).
15. Apply adhesive to the very back panel of the accordion book. Press well to the back velvet cover.
16. Apply adhesive to the other solid black end of the accordion card and attach book front cover (figure L).
17. Fill pockets with recipes or photos (figure M). Wrap ribbon around the back and then bring to the front to tie a bow.
