for paper: paper, various color ink pads & sponge
for fabric: Jacquard fabric paints, 1" wide foam brush, foam board, and fabric (100% natural like linen and cotton)
Steps:
1. To create your own retro papers for crafts, simply stamp images onto plain white paper. To create realistic designs from the 1940s and '50s, have some of the designs overlap one another (figure A).
2. Use a sponge to lightly dab ink into any white spaces for extra punch.
3. Use these papers for a variety of crafts. Cover with clear adhesive paper to create strong, waterproof paper for book covers, purses, checkbook covers and more.
4. To make retro fabric, place the fabric on top of the foam board.
5. Use the foam brush to apply paint carefully to the rubber stamps (figure B).
6. Create your design by overlapping stamps (figure C).
7. Allow to dry. Then place stamped fabric in a hot dryer for 30 minutes to heat set.
8. Use the fabric to create pillows, clothing and other decorative items.
Tips: Use cotton swabs to wipe away any excess fabric paint on stamps before stamping to the fabric.
