Project by Kris Mason.

Materials:

2 sheets Folded Memories rose paper
5" x 8" or larger journal
4-1/4" circle off-white card stock
4-1/2" circle blue card stock
sheet pink card stock
foam mounting tape
liquid adhesive
ballpoint pen
6" green floral wire
green floral tape
sprig of silk rose leaves

To make the journal:

1. Cut one piece of rose paper into squares along the pre-marked lines.

2. Follow the instructions for the stair-step fold in figure A.

3. Glue the finished folded element to the pink card stock and trim around it, leaving a 1/8-inch border.

4. Using foam tape, mount the folded element to the center of the blue circle, and glue the blue circle to the center of the off-white circle.

5. Use foam tape to secure to the journal as desired (figure B).

To make the pen:

1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above with the other piece of rose paper.

2. Make a small loop at the top of the floral wire and twist to secure (figure C).

3. Hold the loop above the flat end of the pen and twist wire around the pen, working in a downward spiral (figure D).

4. Starting at the top, wrap floral tape around the loop and pen to cover the wire. Leave only the tip of the pen exposed (figure E).

5. Line up the stem of the leaves about halfway up the pen and continue to wrap with floral tape to cover and secure the stem to the pen (figure F).

6. Glue the folded element to the loop at the top of the pen by sliding the loop inside one of the open edges (figure G).

Note the various designs that can be achieved depending on which way your paper is oriented when you begin (figure H).
