Folded Butterfly Page

Try making this lovely fluttery butterfly with wings that unfold to reveal a picture. We made a photocopy of the image and cut it to fit inside the butterfly body, then mounted the whole thing on a sheet of butterfly-themed paper. Dress up the wings with wispy vellum embellishments and paper antennae.

But why stop with a butterfly? Cut in accordion-fold, paper-doll fashion, this technique also works with other symmetrical objects. Try it with a snowman (three graduated semicircles) or globe (one large semicircle) and more.
