Folded Heart Scrapbook Pocket

Here's a folded heart pocket perfect for holding all manner of photographs or memorabilia. Use it for dance photos, engagement and wedding pictures or to hold the image of your favorite sweetheart.

Leave the heart folds unlatched as pictured here for easy, fold-down access to the photo, or fortify the pocket to hold memorabilia by fashioning a paper "lock." To make the lock, adhere a strip of decorative paper to either side of the heart, bridging the two sides so the heart stays closed. The matching top and bottom borders were made using strips of coordinating paper adhered inside of square photo corners.

The accompanying page seen here features the happy couple's wedding invitation, including a stamped RSVP envelope and card mounted onto coordinating paper.

Folded Heart Pocket
1. Fold a square of card stock in half (figure A).

2. Starting a little more than a third of the way down on the folded side, cut away a half-circle at the top part of the card stock. The remaining folded card stock should resemble a tombstone shape (figure B). Unfold the card stock. It will have a heart-shaped top half with a rectangular-shaped bottom half.

3. Bring a corner of the rectangle up to the center fold line, making a diagonal fold. Repeat on the other side. This will render a heart shape with a large front pocket formed by the two diagonal flaps. For a decorative effect, fold the corners of the card stock at the center of the heart down diagonally then fold back up again (figure C).

4. Adhere the back of the heart to a scrapbook page. Pull open the "doors" to mount an image inside, or fashion a paper or ribbon "lock" to keep the pocket closed (figure D).
