Carol demonstrates a viewer idea and makes a terrifically simple baby bib. This is an easy and inexpensive way to make birthday presents, baby shower gifts and Christmas gifts for that special infant.
Materials:
22" x 30" piece of soft washable fabric
11" x 15" piece of batting
enough ribbing to go around neck hole
Steps:
- Cut two pieces of fabric and one piece of batting 11" X 15".
- Place the two pieces of fabric together with their pattern sides touching.
- Place the batting on top of the two pieces of fabric.
- Sew all three together on all sides. Use a tight straight stitch all around the fabric and then cut off the excess material.
- Fold in one of the 11" sides about 5".
- Cut out a semi-circle at the fold. The fold should represent the flat side of the semi-circle.
- Unfold the fabric, turn it right side out through the circle you created in Step 6, and lay the piece flat.
- Stitch the ribbing all around the inside of the circle, creasing it as you go along so that it is sewn and appears on both sides of the bib. This may be easiest if you pin the ribbing to the bib before sewing.
Note: The two pieces of fabric and piece of batting may be cut in a slight hourglass shape rather than a rectangle, if desired. The corners may be rounded to achieve this.
