The contents of today's Shoebox had us all open-mouthed at the creativity and artistic ability of viewer Audrey Kopf of Parsippany, N.J. Audrey paints birdhouses, but she paints them to look like people houses. In fact, in most cases the houses are copies of real houses. How she does this is amazing since all of the actual birdhouses are about the same--the kind that many of you have seen in your craft store--but the houses that Audrey duplicates range from bungalows to ranch houses to two story homes!

Audrey started this when a friend who was in real estate asked her to paint one as a gift for a client. She's been painting "people" birdhouses ever since, for several real estate agents as well as for friends. Most of the houses that she paints she has seen and photographed. However, she has painted houses that she has seen only in photos, and they still end up looking like the real thing!

Detail is what Audrey loves, and that is certainly obvious in the photos of her painted houses that she sent to us. In one of the houses that I showed on television, you could see through the window into the dining room, through the dining room and out the back window into the yard. A tablecloth, plant, etc. were visible in the dining room. They were fascinating and beautifully done. I would be hard put to actually hang any of those houses in the yard for the birds!
