This large pewter charger plate is dated circa 1680. The maker's mark is engraved on the top of the plate and sells for $325.

Kashden explains how to tell a reproduction from the real thing by showing a "badly marked" plate. The engraving depth of the mark can give away a reproduction. This one is too shallow.
