This 18th-century map of the world was hand-colored, carved from copper, engraved and printed onto paper.

Botanical engravings are also popular among collectors. This 1838 print sells for $56 and is going up in price.

The lines and watermark in this 18th-century paper help to date it. Nineteenth-century paper did not have the same grain as paper from the 17th and 18th centuries. Seventeenth-century paper has lines that are closer together than 18th-century paper.

This sort of engraving that shows muscles and bones in the legs and feet was used by physicians 195 years ago. Today, such prints are often collected by doctors and surgeons.
