Embossed Frame Ornaments

Materials:

8-1/2" x 11" card stock (makes two)
Posh Impressions antique oval or gallery frame stamp
embossing ink
embossing powder
heat tool
glue gun
photos or photo copies
cording or narrow ribbon - six inches per frame
1/2-inch to one-inch wide ribbon - 12 inches or more per frame
cleaning tray and damp rag
stamping mat and backup paper
scissors
craft knife
Xyron adhesive system with adhesive cartridge

Steps:

1. Stamp the frame onto cardstock using embossing ink.

2. Shake embossing powder liberally over the stamped image. Shake the excess powder back into the jar.

3. Heat the powder with a heat tool until the powder melts (figure A).

4. Run the embossed frame through Xyron with photos or copies.

5. Trim around the inner and outer edges of the frame leaving tiny paper borders outside the embossed design. Once the trimming is complete, the frame should resemble figure B.

6. Trim the photo to fit behind the opening of the frame (figure C).

7. Remove the Xyron backing from the frame and place the photo behind the opening.

8. Cut a six-inch piece of narrow ribbon or cording and fold it in half to make a loop.

9. Stick the loose ends of the cord down at center top of the sticky frame, extending about one inch down into back of the frame and photo.

10. Stick the frame onto another piece of cardstock, sealing the loop ends in between (figure D).

11. If you haven't yet trimmed away the backing around the edge of the frame do it now, being careful not to cut the loop (figure E).

12. Make a bow using the wider ribbon. Secure it to the top front of the frame with hot glue.

small box
card stock
acetate scrap
scissors
craft knife
ribbon
pencil
Xyron adhesive system with adhesive cartridge
embossing ink
embossing powder
heat tool
Posh Impressions antique oval or gallery frame stamp

Steps:

1. Stamp frame onto card stock using embossing ink.

2. Shake embossing powder liberally over stamped image. Shake excess back into jar.

3. Heat with heat tool until powder melts (figure F).

4. Run embossed frame through Xyron adhesive system.

5. Trim around inner and outer edges of frame leaving tiny paper borders outside embossed design (figure G).

6. Stamp a design on paper or directly on the box top, keeping in mind that the center of it will be cut away (figure H). Using the inside of the frame from step 5 as a guide, draw around the frame opening onto the paper or box lid with a pencil (figure I).

7. If you stamped on paper, run the paper through the Xyron machine and wrap the box lid with it, then place the lid on the box. Cut away an opening in the box top that is 1/8 inch wider than frame opening outline drawn on the box in step 6 (figure J). Use a craft knife for this.

8. Cut acetate 1/8 inch wider than frame opening. Remove Xyron backing from frame and stick acetate window in place.

9. Adhere the framed window over the opening on box.

10. Position a photo or gift under the acetate-covered window frame, using tape or tissue to keep in place if necessary.

11. Place lid on box and tie a ribbon bow.
