Clear Vinyl and Velvet Tote

Materials:

Hot Potatoes rubber stamps:
- J420 Small Dots
- K427 Bamboo Stars
- L403 Celtic Groove Thang
1 yard pistachio Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 2" velvet ribbon*
1 yard teal Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 2" velvet ribbon*
1 yard purple Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 3" velvet ribbon*
three 1-yard ribbon/trim pieces to coordinate with velvet*
2 rolls 1/4" Red Line double-stick tape
1 roll 2" Red Line double-stick tape
vinyl tote bag (ours was 15" x 17")
iron (no steam)
mist bottle with water

*or enough to fit the size of the tote bag

Steps:

1. To emboss the velvet ribbon: Lightly mist the back of the ribbon with water. Place the stamp rubber side up on an ironing board. Lay the velvet right side down against the stamp image. Press a hot iron to the velvet and hold for 20 seconds. Continue to emboss all the ribbon in this fashion.

2. Apply double-stick tape to the back of the velvet ribbon and trim. Start on the side of the tote and wrap the ribbon and trim pieces around the tote as shown.

3. Turn the raw edges of the ribbon under and attach with another small piece of double-stick tape to form a neat seam on the side.

Velvet Ribbon Orange Vinyl Tote Bag

Materials:

J420 Small Dots Hot Potatoes rubber stamp
12" red Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 2" velvet ribbon*
12" ribbon to coordinate with velvet*
12" beaded trim on a ribbon tape
1 roll 2" Red Line double-stick tape
vinyl tote bag (ours was 10" x 12" from Target)
iron (no steam)
mist bottle with water

Steps:

1. Emboss the velvet ribbon as in the project above (figure A). Emboss all the ribbon in this fashion.

2. Turn the raw edges of the ribbon under and apply double-stick tape to the back of the ribbon and trim. Start on the side of the tote and attach the ribbon and trim pieces around the tote as shown (figure B).

Velvet Ribbon Inset Canvas Tote Bag

Materials:

Hot Potatoes rubber stamps:
- J420 Small Dots
- T425 Mod Blocks
14" teal Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 2" velvet ribbon*
14" blue Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 2" velvet ribbon*
14" pistachio Hot Potatoes acetate/rayon 3" velvet ribbon*
14" ribbon pieces to coordinate with velvet*
1-1/2 yards of 1/4" trim for outside edges of insert
1 roll 1/4" Red Line double-stick tape
1 roll 2" Red Line double-stick tape
black canvas tote bag (ours was 17" x 13" from Michaels)
iron (no steam)
mist bottle with water

1. Emboss the velvet ribbon(figure C); continue to emboss all the ribbon in this fashion.

2. Apply double-stick tape to the back of the ribbon and trim. Attach the ribbon and trim pieces to the front of the tote as shown. Apply double-stick tape to the 1/4-inch trim and apply to the outside edges of the ribbon insert, covering the raw edges of the ribbon.
