Sea Grass Braid and Shell Mirror

Materials:

green floral mirror
50 feet of sea grass braid
assortment of larger shells
hot glue and glue gun
T-pins or long dressmaking pins
pulp lace natural
double knot fish net
cork fishing float

Steps:

1. Starting at the back of the mirror, hot glue a row of sea grass braid onto the green floral foam, pinning seagrass in place as you move around the mirror. Continue gluing one row after the other until the green foam is covered.

2. Select the shells for your arrangement and also pulp lace, fish net or any other texture you would like to add. Carefully hot glue into place on the front of the mirror.

Tip - Use pins to keep the sea grass rows in line and together while gluing.

Towel Tub

Materials:

small tin tub
12 feet of sea grass braid
asortment of small shells
Lupa paper natural
pulp netting
diluted white glue
hot glue and glue gun

Steps:

1. Tear Lupa paper into small pieces.

2. Dip the pieces into the diluted white glue and cover the bottom of the tub and half way up the side of the tub.

3. Place the tub upside down on a cookie sheet and bake in a 200-degree oven for 45 minutes.

4. Start in an inch from bottom of the tub and glue a sea grass braid around the tub. Working up the tub, make five rows

5. Decorate the side of tub with pulp lace, shells and an unbraided sea grass braid.

Faux Tin Tiles

Use these tiles to cover a wall or as unique decorative accents.

Materials:

paper pulp tiles
mini starfish
acrylic paint in silver, taupe, and dark gray
hot glue and glue gun
sponge

Steps:

1. Glue starfish to top of paper tile. Use a paint brush to paint inside the crevices in the tile (figure C).

2. Sponge silver paint on paper tile (figure D).

3. Sponge on dark gray and taupe colors blending them into silver paint.

4. With small brush touch up all cracks with silver and dark gray paint. The tiles should resemble tin pots.

Tip - If planning to use these tiles in the bathroom, put a matte finish poly-coating on to protect from water and steam damage.

Vanity Organizers

These make great containers for bathroom goodies such as cotton balls, soaps, cosmetic brushes and more.

Materials:

four tin flower pots
sheet of Lupa paper natural
sea grass braid
dozen small China sea starfish
hot glue gun
watered-down white glue
cookie sheet

Steps:

1. Tear Lupa paper into small pieces.

2. Dip the paper pieces into white glue and water mixture and position them around the top of the pot.

3. Put all four pots on a cookie sheet and bake in a 200-degree oven for 45 minutes.

4. Wrap sea grass braid around the pots at the top. Tie and cut the braid, leaving four-inch ends. Glue the sea grass braid into place and unbraid the ends.

5. Glue on small shell and starfish to the sea grass braid.
