Project designed by Barbara Trombley.

Materials:

Magenta floral stamp
permanent dye-base ink
Designer Dries clear adhesive with ultrafine stainless metal tip
various colors of transparent or opaque ultrafine Art Institute glitter
- yellow
- various shades of green
- pink
- lavendar
- iridescent
spoon
glitter trays
heat-tolerant transparency
double-glass decorative frame

Steps:

Preparation
1. Stamp a Magenta floral stamped image onto the transparency with permanent dye-base ink (figure A) or stamp onto paper and transfer the image to the transparency at a copy center.

2. Remove tip cover of a bottle of clear adhesive and attach an ultrafine stainless metal tip.

3. Put glitter in individual trays.

4. Dot adhesive on the center of the flower. With a spoon, sprinkle yellow glitter onto the glue and let dry for 15 minutes. Choose a stem/leaf to glitter. Apply glue to the shape (figure B). Sprinkle both dark and light shades of green glitter (figure C). This technique blends the surface shape with color.

2. Add glitter to the remaining leaf shapes. If leaves overlap, make the edges of the front leaf lighter than the edges of the leaf behind it.

3. Outline the flower petals with glue, then fill it in solidly with adhesive. Sprinkle light green glitter onto the petal where it attaches to the stem. Cover one-third of the petal with light green glitter.

4. Add a little a touch of yellow, pink and lavendar glitter to the opposite edge of the petal (figure D). Cover the remaining surface with iridescent glitter (figure E). As with the leaves, if a petal overlaps another petal, the edges of the one in front should be sprinkled with lighter-colored glitter.

5. Add glitter to the remaining petals.

6. Let the glitter dry for six to 10 hours. When dry, the glitter will shine through the clear adhesive to the opposite side of the transparency, thus the side with the glue and glitter will become the back side of the transparency.

7. Cut the image into a square and place in a double-glass decorative frame.
