Marriage In Glass

Rik and Shelley Allen met as students at Pilchuk and fell in love. Although this couple has a lot of things in common, their style of glass art is not the same. Rik's work relies on very different techniques than his wife's. Shelley's work revolves around the imagery of horses. In addition to the blown glass elements, there is also the use of oil paints and natural fibers to complete the horse motif. Rik's work is primarily interestingly shaped vases. The rich and glowing colors he uses makes these heavy large pieces seem light and fluid.
