Figure C
Host Renai Ellison tells how to create memory boxes with wood, paint and collections of memorabilia (see photo at right).

Materials:

wood
nails
plywood
sandpaper
latex paint, watered down
paintbrush
paper items, photos, fabric, letters and memorabilia
hot-glue gun
magnetic tape for words and letters
double-sided tape
hanger

Steps:

  1. Nail wooden pieces together to make a shallow, five-sided box. The sides need to be at least four inches deep and attached to a plywood bottom.

  2. Sand off any rough edges and the inside of the box.

  3. Wash with the chosen paint color (figure A). Let dry.

  4. Cut and arrange paper items, photos (figure B), fabric and letters to fit inside the box in a decorative manner.

  5. Arrange the assortment of 3-D objects inside.

  6. Glue all items into the box with a hot-glue gun. Attach postcards (figure C) and other paper items with double-sided tape.

  7. Attach a hanger to the back of the boxes and hang on the wall.
