The Carol Duvall Show cameras focus on Ernie Memmo and his handmade wood pieces. Memmo is a self-taught wood turner with a background in furniture making. After seeing a glass blower at a craft fair, he decided he'd try to get a glass-blown look into his wood pieces.

Memmo devised a unique bonding system which allows him to bond exotic wood and acrylics together into blocks to create his basic design. This can take several days, depending on the complexity of the design. He then turns the piece and adds lacquer to protect it.

No two pieces are ever the same, as is the nature of wood. This is also due to the myriad of design possibilities created when adding acrylics. The furniture looks especially like stained glass when exposed to light.
