Mica Leaf Wooden Box

Materials:

wooden box
ivory acrylic paint
paint brush
assorted rubber stamps: A2308H Lemon Blossom, (A1667H Pansy - discontinued), A2256F Woodcut Sunflower, 77OF Sunflower Design, A2204F Ivy Leaves, A2205E Maple Leaf, A2233C Checkerboard
Perfect fx mica tiles
assorted pigment ink pads
textile markers or color pencils
clear embossing powder
embossing heat tool
Perfect Paper adhesive

Steps:

  1. Apply a base coat of ivory acrylic paint to the wooden box. Allow to dry.
  2. Use pencil and ruler to center a rectanguler shape on box top.
  3. Tear small pieces of mulberry paper. Adhere pieces on box top with Perfect Paper adhesive, leaving rectangle area clear.
  4. Separate mica tiles into thinner leaves. Stamp ivy using green pigment ink on mica leaf.
  5. Cover ivy design with clear embossing powder, tap off excess powder and heat design with embossing heat tool.
  6. Repeat process until you have enough mica leaves to cover rectangle center of box.
  7. Use scissors or craft knife to trim mica pieces to fit inside the rectangle.
  8. Use Perfect Paper adhesive to adhere mica tiles to box.
  9. Stamp assorted art papers with pigment ink. Emboss the designs. Leave images as is, or color if desired.
  10. Stamp checkerboard border to glue around edge of mica tiles. Tear or cut into an assortment of shapes to adhere to all sides of box.
