Project designed by Rosemary Carsello.
Materials:
"Heart & Soul" five-part theorem stencil kit - beginner level
chalk pastels
two 1/4-inch, soft-bristled, angled paint brushes
small terry cloth towel
medium- or heavyweight watercolor paper
foam board sized to project
lightweight masking tape
white craft glue
craft knife
protective sealer
matte-finish polyurethane
fabric tab wall hook
Steps:
1. Place one sheet of watercolor paper on a flat work surface and secure with lightweight masking tape.
2. Center theorem stencil layer #1 on the paper and secure with lightweight masking tape.
3. Place a small piece of lightweight masking tape under each registration mark to insure proper alignment of subsequent theorem layers.
4. Follow theorem stencil painting instructions for "Heart & Soul" using chalk pastels (figures A, B and C).
5. Upon completion of the theorem design, seal with protective sealer and let dry per manufacturer instructions.
6. Following manufacturer directions, apply at least two coats of polyurethane to the painting.
7. Use a craft knife (figure D) to cut a rectangle piece of foam-board about one-forth the size of painting.
8. Center the foam board piece on the back of the painting (figure E). Glue it in place and let it dry completely.
9. Place the fabric hanging wall tab onto the foam board and hang.
