Guest Sandi Genovese demonstrated this project.
Materials:
Ellison die-cuts and die-cutting machine
fabric paint
Ellison clear stamp mounts
Ellison self-adhesive rubber
blank canvas director's chair
Steps:
1. Cut rubber stamps out of self-adhesive rubber using the Ellison die-cutter or scissors. To insure a clean stamped image, cut out rubber stamp twice to enable doubling the thickness of the rubber stamp. You will need the following pieces: 1-inch square, 3/4-inch square, five 1-1/2-inch circles, six 2-inch circles, five 3/4-inch circles, six 1-inch circles, several 3/8-inch strips for flower stems, and one leaf facing right and one facing left.
2. Peel off backing from rubber shapes and attach them to the clear acrylic stamp mounts.
3. Paint square stamp with black fabric paint, and press design onto canvas chair back and seat, creating a checkerboard effect.
4. Paint and stamp stems and leaves on canvas back and seat (figure A).
5. Paint and stamp each outer circle on top of each stem (figure B).
6. When paint is dry, paint and stamp smaller, darker circle inside each larger circle (figure C). It is important to choose a lighter shade for the large circle with a darker shade inside (figure D).
Note: Practice creating subtle shading of colors by applying multiple shades of paint on the stamp before pressing it onto the canvas (figure E).
