Faux Finish

Materials:

Walnut Hollow stool  #17261
Classic Dimensions wood embellishments
Plaid Durable Colors khaki paint and silver glaze paint
chamois tool
glue

Steps:

  1. Base coat stool and Classic Dimension piece khaki.
  2. Apply silver glaze with chamois tool to top of stool and Classic Dimensions.
  3. Glue Classic Dimensions in place.

Layering Technique

Materials:

Walnut Hollow shelf #8412
Walnut Hollow adhesive letters
acrylic paint in variety of colors
sea wool sponge
sanding block
medium flat brush

Steps:

  1. Sponge your choice of acrylic paint colors onto shelf in a "camouflage" style. Allow paint to dry.
  2. Sponge on top coat colors. Allow paint to dry.
  3. Sand back through the top coat to reveal the colors underneath.
  4. Paint the letters using a flat brush. Press letters in place.
  5. Apply two to three coats of spray varnish.

Room Screen

Materials:

Walnut Hollow changing screen #(8105)
fabric
acrylic paint
crackle medium
Designs from the Heart wood sealer
sponge applicator
spray varnish

Steps:

  1. Apply one coat of sealer to the entire changing screen. Allow sealer to dry then sand lightly.
  2. Apply a base coat color to the screen.
  3. Apply crackle medium to the screen.
  4. Apply a top coat.
  5. Spray with varnish.
  6. Attach prepared fabric as instructed by directions included with screen.

Fabric Frame

Materials:

Walnut Hollow frame #3587
fabric
various trims and braids
Fatt Batt high lift batting
glue

Steps:

  1. Cut fabric and batting to size of frame.
  2. Glue batting to the frame.
  3. Position fabric right-side-down on table with batting side of frame on top of the fabric. Apply glue on long edges first, pressing the fabric in place, then glue the short sides in place. Flip the frame over.
  4. Cut the center of the fabric to glue to the inside of the frame.
  5. Glue trims and braids in place. Add a photo.

Fabric Clock

Materials:

Walnut Hollow square clock #23025
adhesive Roman numerals #535
clock movement #TQ700P
fabric
fusible web
trim and tassels
white acrylic paint
sponge applicator
glue

Steps:

  1. Base coat the clock using sponge and white paint.
  2. Fuse the fabric onto the clock face.
  3. Attach trim and tassels with glue.
  4. Press clock numerals in place.
  5. Attach clock movement and hands.

Planter Boxes

Materials:

Walnut Hollow planter boxes - discontinued
Plaid Durable Colors paint
scraps of fabric
sponge applicator

Steps:

  1. Paint the entire box with paint using a sponge applicator.
  2. Tear strips of fabric and tie around the box for a decorative touch.

Stained Glass Lampshade Lamp

Materials:

Walnut Hollow lamp base and hardware - discontinued
handmade paper
acrylic paint
paintbrush
stain
sponge applicator
glue

Steps:

  1. Use sponge to apply stain.
  2. Glue handmade paper in place on insert.
  3. Tint the paper with a wash of acrylic paint.

Oriental Frame

Materials:

Walnut Hollow frame
rubber stamps - oriental characters
black stamp ink
velum paper
decorative scissors
decoupage glue
red acrylic paint
sponge applicator

Steps:

  1. Paint frame red using sponge.
  2. Stamp vellum paper with oriental characters.
  3. Use decorative scissors to trim paper.
  4. Adhere paper to frame with decoupage glue.
  5. Add trim.

Using Ready-made Tile

Materials:

Walnut Hollow VerasTile wood pieces - discontinued
ready-made tile (from home center or hardware store)
colorful wood stains to match tile
glue
sponge applicator
soft cloth

Steps:

  1. Stain chosen VersaTile wood piece with color to match tiles and sponge. Wipe excess with soft cloth. Allow piece to dry.
  2. Glue tile in place.
