Figure A
The trick to this project is to stencil on the underside of the table so that the top can still be washed and scrubbed without harming the design. Since the stencil will be viewed from beneath the glass, you will need to apply the design in reverse order. Normally, overlay #1 would be stenciled first, then #2 and so on. Simply reverse the process for this project.

Materials
glass patio table
Dressler stencil #216 - Marie's Flowering Vines
acrylic enamel paints or acrylic paints and all-purpose sealer
stencil brushes
paper towels
adhesive spray
hair dryer

Steps
  1. Clean the glass on the underside of the table.
  2. Spray the back of the stencil with adhesive and press into place.
Note: As far as paints go, you can either use the acrylic enamels that are formulated to adhere well to glass, or you can use the regular acrylics with a multi-purpose sealer added in a 1:1 ratio. Either one will work and remember this will be under the table, so it should not get any weather anyway!
  3. Turn the table upside down.
  4. Spray the back of overlay #2 with adhesive and position it on the underside of the glass.
  5. Load your brush by dipping it into the paint and unload again on paper towels so that the brush is practically dry. You won't want any paint running under the stencil.
  6. Apply the paint lightly through the stencil (figure A) in reverse order to the instructions for application.
  7. Remove #2 and position #1. Again apply the paint in reverse order to the instructions, using a hairdryer to speed the dry time. Layer the paint on over the dried layers, creating an image that will appear correct in visual order from the top of the table. If you need to view what is happening, peek under the table to see the top side. Make any color adjustments as you go.
Optional: You may spray the surface lightly with a sealer if you wish, but it really isn't necessary. When you want to change the design, just wash it off with window cleaner, such as Windex.

Tip - When you view the stenciled art from the tip of the table it looks like a floating design.
