Figure C
Interior designer Denise Simons explains how to use metallic leaf paint to dress up various types of walls (see photo at right).

Materials:

metallic acrylic paints
sponge brush
stamps
grasscloth or backsplash

Steps:

  1. Use a sponge brush to apply metallic paint to the stamp (figure A).

  2. Starting at the corner of the wall, press a stamp onto the surface. Notice the difference in appearance between grasscloth (figure B) and a backsplash (figure C).

  3. Continue down the wall, applying new paint when necessary.

* Note: It is not necessary to reapply paint after every stamp. Using stamps that are lighter than others adds to the dimensional look of the wall.
