Steps:
  1. Cover the handle of the lunch pail with the paper and tape.
  2. Use spray paint or acrylic paint to cover the entire outside surface of the pail.
  3. Set the pail aside to dry.
  4. Stamp and color the desired image on the cardstock or sticker paper (figure A).
  5. Cut out all the images to be used on the pail (figure B).
  6. With the decoupage medium, adhere the images to the pail (figure C).
  7. Set the pail aside again to dry.
  8. To line the inside of the pail with the fold-out wallet and compartments, cut a piece of cardstock using the Rubber Stampede pattern as a guide (figure D). Cover the cardstock cutout with fabric, or any other desired medium, then fold according to pattern instructions (figure E). Position covered and folded insert inside the pail, and glue to secure.
  9. Sew the cord of woven belt material to the lanyard hook at each end.
  10. Clip a lanyard hook to the bar holding the handle on both sides.

Tips:

  • If you can't find a miniature lunch pail use a regular-sized pail.
  • To add variety to the lunch pail purse add decorative stones or pictures to the outside of the pail.
  • Design lunch pail purses to coordinate with different outfits.
  • Many of the pails have trader marks on them, so you may not even want to change the outside of the tin. If not, just add the inside purse liner.
  • Tailor the inside of the pail to serve as a tote for sewing or craft supplies (figure F).
