Project designed by Jeen Brown.

Materials:

Wimpole Street Creations large natural knit bag
Wimpole Street Creations four- inch crocheted doily
7" x 7" piece of Wimpole Street Creations chenille
Wimpole Street Creations large yo-yo
10 inches of green satin ribbon
1" x 1" piece of rose felt for lips
two, one-inch pompoms for hair
1/2-inch pompom for flower center
one yard of black floss
one yard of floss to match chenille
two small black beads for eyes
three-inch wooden circle for base
three- inch circle of poster board or cardboard
straight pins
polyester fiberfill
acrylic paint to coordinate
powder blush
chenille needle
pattern
hot glue

Steps:

1. Cut a six-inch circle from the chenille and a three-inch circle from the poster board. Cut the lips from the felt. Cut the ribbon in half.

2. Paint the wooden circle with the coordinating color.

3. Firmly stuff the knit bag with fiberfill for the head. Tighten the drawstrings or hand gather with six strands of floss (figure A and B). Knot and trim the threads. Tuck the cuff of the bag to the inside. The opening of the bag will be at the bottom.

4. Hand gather around the chenille circle with six strands of floss. Firmly stuff the center with fiberfill, tighten the drawstrings, knot and trim the threads. This will be the bottom of the hat. Cover one side of the poster board circle with hot glue. Center the bottom of the hat over the circle and firmly press into place until the glue has cooled (figure C). Make sure the hat is glued securely around the edges of the circle. Cover the other side of the circle wit hot glue (figure D). Center the circle over the top of the head and firmly press into place (figure E) until the glue has cooled.

5. Apply powder blush to the cheeks. Glue the black beads to the center of the face. Glue the top edge of the lips in place. Stitch the mouth line (figure F) and nose with three strands of back floss.

6. Clip the center threads of the one-inch pompoms and separate the fibers for hair. Glue the hair loosely around the bottom edge of the hat (figure G), covering the poster board circle.

7. Glue each piece of ribbon into a loop. Glue the loops to the back of the yo- yo for leaves (figure H). Glue the pompom to the center of the yo-yo to complete the flower. Glue the flower to the front of the hair (figure I).

8. Glue the collar to the painted wooden base. Securely glue the head to the collar (figure J). Glue the painted wooden base to the bottom of the collar. Place straight pins in the hat.
