cluster of artificial flowers or ribbon flowers
milliner's veiling or tulle
milliner's needles, size 10
white beading thread, size 33

Steps:
- Measure around the hat crown for a hat band. Cut the ribbon for the hatband at about 25".
- Stitch the hat band to the hat crown with a seam in the back.
- Drape and stitch the tulle or millinery veiling in place.
- Cut 24" of wide ribbon for the shoelace bow. Tie the bow and stitch it to the hatband in the back.
- Arrange artificial flowers or silk ribbon roses on the hat and over the bow, and stitch them in place.
- Tuck in a few artificial or milliners leaves, and stitch them in place.
- Make a hat pin or place a large ornamental buckle or special do-dad on the hat.
Tips:
- Hats are best worn forward on the head, just near the brow, rather than on the back of the head.
- When you are not wearing the hat, stuff the crown with tissue, and store it in a hatbox.
- If displaying the hat, use a hat stand rather that tacking it to a wall.
