Project designed by Jeen Brown.

Materials:

10" fabric and Battenberg doily
1/3 yard of fabric for lining
two yards of 7/8" ribbon for purse strap
3" of sew-on Velcro
thread to match doily

Steps:

  1. Place the doily right side up on the right side of the lining fabric. Pin the doily to the fabric and stitch around the outside of the doily with a zigzag stitch. Carefully cut away excess fabric from the outside edge of the doily.
  2. Fold the doily in half with right sides together, matching the lace design at the center front and back. Sew the sides together as shown. Trim away the excess fabric and lace to 1/4". Turn to the right side and press.
  3. Fold the ribbon in half and topstitch along both edges to form a strap 7/8" to 36". Place the strap inside the purse and stitch in place. Place the Velcro in the center of the opening and stitch in place.
