Figure B

Bead expert Susie Edwards explains how to easily make rhinestone-studded belt buckles , hair clips and even purses. This technique works great for watches, belt buckles, purses, clothing and eyeglasses.

Materials:

cardboard
epoxy glue (either the five-minute or 30-minute type)
toothpick
crayon or wax stick
crystals or rhinestones
article to be covered
rubbing alcohol for cleanup

Steps:

  1. On a piece of cardboard, make several dots of both compounds of the epoxy glue. Arrange them close together without touching. They will sit all day long unchanged before they are mixed together. Mix together only a bit at a time with a toothpick (figure A).

  2. Using the toothpick to coat the surface with mixed glue.

  3. With the crayon or wax stick, pick up a rhinestone, which will adhere to the point, and place it on the article (figure B). Outline the area first, then fill in.
