Crafting Ergonomically

For effective results with greater safety, check out some of the ergonomic items Carol found in her local craft store, and some terrific finger, palm, and wrist exercises for those achy crafting hands.
Hand Massage
With your left thumb, massage the palm of your right hand. At the same time, wrap the fingers of your left hand around the outside of your right hand and massage for one minute. Repeat with opposite hand.
Clench and Fan
Clench your hand into a tight fist and hold for five seconds. Release smoothly, extending your thumb and fingers into fully stretched position, and hold for five seconds. Repeat five times with each hand.
Thumb Stretch
With your left hand, gently pull your right thumb away from your palm and down toward your forearm. Hold for five seconds. You should feel the stretch in the base of your thumb, palm side. Repeat with your left thumb. Perform five repetitions, then alternate thumbs.
Wrist Stretch
Hold your right hand in front of your body, palm facing out, fingertips up, fingers together. With your left hand, grasp your right fingers and gently pull them back towards your body. Hold for five seconds. You should feel the stretch in the wrist area. Repeat for the left wrist. Perform five repetitions, then alternate wrists.
Wrist Circles
With your hands in front of your body, and elbows held at a comfortable angle, gently rotate your wrists. Perform five repetitions in each direction.
