Fill inexpensive baby bottles with fat quarters, thread or potpourri to give as hostess gifts or as party favors.
1. If all the guests are quilters, ask each guest to bring a finished quilt block for the baby (boy or girl).

2. For a truly group project consider making a crayon quilt. Iron blocks of white 100 percent cotton to freezer paper. Provide each guest a block to draw and color a design with crayons (figure A). Mark the seam allowances and have them keep the design within the seams.

3. Lay the colored block face down on a clean sheet of white paper. Press with a dry iron set on the cotton setting (figure B). This will melt any additional wax away. The wax will be left on the white paper. You may need to repeat this several times with clean paper until all the wax is absorbed and the paper comes out clean.

4. Piece all the blocks together for a personalized baby crayon quilt.

5. Set the table with a quilt and place flowers in a toy as a centerpiece--a wagon for instance. This makes a great gift for the baby as he/she gets older.
