The History of Sewing

Hand sewing was an essential skill in the 1800s. It was taught very early to young girls and if a woman was not tending to the house, cooking, cleaning, attending to farm needs, etc. she was sewing! It was not exactly a leisurely activity, just something that was expected. Obviously times have changed! Join us for a short walk through history to see how sewing went from a chore to a fun and creative hobby.
