Welcome back to the third month of Isabella's Garden! Sometimes a row and sometimes a bordered block, this 12-month project is tackling one section at a time. This month, we're making Four-Patch block rows.

Make four rows of Four-Patch blocks—14 blocks in three of the rows and eight blocks in the fourth row. Employ your favorite Four-Patch technique or follow these instructions.

Materials:

fabric - two colors/prints

Steps:

1. Cut:
(1) 1-1/2" x 42" strip - square one fabric
(1) 1-1/2" x 33" strip - square one fabric
(1) 1-1/2" x 42" strip - square two fabric
(1) 1-1/2" x 33" strip - square two fabric

2. Seam the 42-inch strips together to create a strip unit. Repeat for the 33-inch strips. Cut 100, 1-1/2-inch pieces from these strips (figure A).

3. Pin two of the 1-1/2-inch pieces together to form a Four-Patch unit, flipping one of the two pieces so the colors match diagonally (figure B) and seams match up in the middle of the block. Stitch. Repeat to make 50 units.
