sewing machine with zigzag stitch
size 80/12 sewing machine needles
extra bobbins
threads - cotton, polyester, etc. - for the first bowl, select a thread type you're comfortable using
scissors for thread and fabric cutting
pencils for marking fabric - marks won't show so a #2 pencil or white marker are fine
rotary cutter and large rotary cutting mat
12-1/2" square rotary ruler
June Tailor 18" ironing protective sheet
iron and ironing board
1-1/2 yards of polyester cording, size 16
2 fat quarters (or two 12-1/2" squares)
2. Layer two pieces of fabric and two pieces of fusible web, each face to face. Cut to 12-1/2 inches square. Iron the fusible web to fabrics with a dry iron. Fuse fabrics to either side of the Timtex creating a "bowl sandwich." Square up the sandwich to 12 inches.3. Mark the sandwich by drawing two intersecting lines across the whole piece six inches from each edge (figure C). These marks show where to place the bowl bases (center of the bowl).
6. To create a sewing line for the second base on the other side of the bowl sandwich, straight-stitch around the outer edge of the fused base piece without stitching the fused base. Turn the bowl over and center the second base fabric inside the newly created sewing line(figure F). Fuse the second center onto bowl.7. Test stitches on a scrap of fabric, then satin-stitch around the edge of the base fabric to secure centers.
10. Use an open embroidery foot to satin-stitch once up each dart, pulling the bowl sides together gently as you sew. Center the cut so that the bowl sides are caught evenly in the satin stitch (figure I).11. Zigzag a length of #16 polyester cording around the edge of the bowl then satin-stitch once or twice around the edge.
