Materials:rotary cutter and mat, ruler, fabric
two contrasting colors of fabric, such as yellow and blue, cut it in these dimensions (for each block):
- three 3-1/2" squares of yellow fabric
- two 3-7/8" right triangles of yellow fabric
- four 3-1/2" squares of blue fabric
- two 3-7/8" right triangles of blue fabric
Steps:
- Take one yellow and one blue right triangle and place right sides together. Sew 1/4 inch from the cut edge.
- Open triangles and press toward the darker fabric to set the seam. Continue with the other two triangles.
- With the three yellow squares, four blue squares, and the four triangles now sewn into two squares, you'll have nine squares total.
- Stitch the first row in this order: two yellow squares and one of the "triangle" squares. For the second row, stitch one yellow square and two blue squares. For the third row, stitch one "triangle" square and two blue squares.
- Once all rows are sewn, set the seams by pressing row 1 inward, row 2 outward and row 3 inward to help the fabric lay better.
