Garden Maze Quilt

Materials:

FreeSpirit fabric from the Sweet Geraniums Collection by American Patchwork & Quilting
1/8 yard of fabric A - #D160-302 (large floral) Allow extra fabric for fussy cutting these squares
1/4 yard fabric B - #D161-302 (taupe tone on tone leaf print )
7/8 yard fabric C - #D161-447 (green leaf)
5/8 yard fabric D - #D162-615 (pink floral print)
5/8 yard fabric E - #D164-627 (dark pink tone on tone print)
5 /8 yard fabric F - #D166-302 (pink & green stripe)
1-1/2 yard fabric G - #D163 -302 (floral sprig)
1/2 yard fabric H - #D162-302 (taupe floral)
1/8 yard fabric I - #D165-302 (floral on plaid)
3-1/2 yards backing fabric
template plastic
scissors, straight pins, rotary cutter, acrylic ruler, cutting mat
60-inch square piece of cotton batting
100-percent cotton thread

Steps:

1. Cut two, two-inch strips of fabric C. Cut two, 3-/12-inch strips of fabric B . Sew together. Cut the unit into two-inch segments for a total of 36 unit 1s ( figure A).

2. Sew two-inch strips of fabrics D, C and B together. Cut into two-inch segments to create unit 2s.

3. Sew two-inch strips of fabrics E, D and C. Cut into two-inch segments to create unit 3s.

4. Sew 18 segments of units 1, 2 and 3 in that order. Sew 18 segments units 3, 2 and 1 in that order.

5. Sew a 2-1/2-inch square of fabric D to two corners of a 3-1/2-inch square of fabric F. Sew a 2" x 3-1/2" rectangle to the top to create unit 4 (figure B).

6. Sew units together in this order: 1/2/3/4/3/2/1 (18 total).

7. Sew unit 4 to either side of 3-1/2-inch square of fabric A.

8. Sew the block together--nine blocks total.

9. Sew together 3-1/2-inch G, two-inch H, 3-1/2-inch C, two-inch H, and a 3-1/2 -inch G. Cut into two-inch strips and sew to blocks with two-inch fabric corner pieces (figure C).

10. Sew the top together.
