Screen-printed Silk Scarf

Materials:

ready-to-dye silk scarf
cold water fiber reactive dye
small bucket or medium bowl
clothespins, whisk, measuring spoons
water
vinegar
plastic pitcher with lid
thiourea dioxide
soda ash
coffee maker, teakettle, or microwave
sodium alginate (printing thickener)
yogurt container
silkscreen
craft knife and cutting mat
adhesive-backed clear plastic sheeting
ball-head pins or masking tape
block paraffin wax
hair dryer
screen-printing squeegee
iron and ironing board
Synthrapol dyeing detergent
respirator and rubber gloves*
padded table
*Note: Wear a respirator and rubber gloves when working with dye and chemical solutions.
