Shadow Boxing

Carol Duvall Show : Episode CDS-107 -- More Projects »
Most art and frame stores carry wooden frames to make a shadow box, but you can also make a less expensive but equally attractive one from the plastic "box" frames available in most craft and discount stores.

Materials:

plastic "box" frame that contains the same size cardboard box - overall size as desired
craft knife or scissors
decorative Con-Tact paper or fabric - enough to cover entire cardboard box
hot glue gun and glue - only if adhesive-backed paper is not used

Steps:
  1. Separate the cardboard box section of the frame from the plastic part.
  2. Cut out one face of the cardboard box, leaving the four sides and back piece intact.
  3. Use adhesive-backed paper or glue fabric over the entire piece of cardboard.
  4. Trim off any excess material.
  5. Put the cardboard part of frame back inside the plastic part of frame. You now have a shadow box to display your keepsakes.
Tip: Be sure you cover the plastic part of your frame with a soft cloth to prevent it from being scratched while you're working on it.
