Guest Sandi Reinke, from Loose Ends, travels all over the world looking for new products and techniques for craft projects. Today, she joined Carol with some exotic, attractive, and strange finds to create an unusual vase and sculpture.

Natural Vase

Materials:

papier mache vase
coconut bark handmade paper
glue mix -- 80 percent glue, 20 percent water
fossil leaves
linen bark in natural color

Steps:
  1. Rip up coconut bark paper into pieces.
  2. Soak the pieces in glue mix, then add them to the vase (figures A and B).
  3. Dip fossil leaves in glue mix and add them to the vase in a random pattern.
  4. Moisten linen bark and cut off any hard edges.
  5. Add to vase and allow to dry.
Linen Sculpture

Materials:

plastic water bottle -- any size
linen bark in white color
glue mix -- 80 percent glue, 20 percent water

Steps:
  1. Soak a large piece of white linen bark in glue mix.
  2. Turn plastic water bottle over on its end and prop it upright with bottles, pieces of wood, bookends, etc.
  3. Drape linen bark over water bottle and allow to dry.
  4. Use to hold flowers, as a sculpture, or as a decorative wine bottle wrap.
