Materials:

paper piercing tool
paper - any desired color
piercing pad or rubber mouse pad
pencil or pen
heart template

Steps:

1. Trace a heart template and enlarge it to the desired size (figure A). Freehand draw an inner design of your choice (figure B).

2. Place a thick felt pad or mouse pad under the paper (figure C).

3. Lay the paper design on the page in the desired positon.

4. Using a piercing tool, pierce the penciled design along the design lines. If piercing along a line for decoration, leave at least the width of one hole between each piercing (figure D).

Tips:

  • The less texture on the paper the better the piercing will show up.
  • Piercing is traditionally done from front to back, but piercing from back to front yields a different texture.
