Steps:1. Go through old magazines before throwing them away and tear out pages that have large areas of pure color, such as an expanse of sky. Look for photos with an object in sharp focus in the foreground. Many times the backgrounds of these photos will be blurry areas of color. Save these.
2. Separate the pages into groups of reds, blues, greens, yellows, etc. Put each color group into a separate plastic bag. When you get ready to make cards, you will have a ready supply of colorful glossy paper on which to stamp (figure A).
3. Using a paper cutter, cut the following: 3" x 3-3/4" black card stock; 3-1/4" x 4" piece from the shiny gold card stock; and cut the white/cream card stock in half to yield two 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" pieces.
4. Fold the white/cream pieces in half to make two 5-1/2" x 4-1/2" cards. Set one aside for use later.
5. Ink the rubber stamp with the watermark ink pad. Press the inked rubber stamp onto the black piece of card stock (figure B).
6. Sprinkle the gold embossing powder onto the stamped image (figure C). Shake off any excess powder. Using the heat tool, heat the stamped and powdered image until it turns shiny gold. Set aside.
7. Repeat the stamping and embossing process on a colorful glossy magazine page (figure D). Stamp and emboss the image again onto a different colored magazine page.
8. Cut out just the two wings of the embossed butterfly from each of the two magazine pages (figure E). Don't cut out the body or antennae.
9. Using the glue stick, glue the colorful butterfly wings to the embossed black card stock, taking care to align them directly on top of the wings on the card stock. Use two different colors of wings (figure F).
10. Glue the black card on top of the gold card so that the gold makes a frame around the black. Using the foam mounting tape, attach the gold card to the front center of the white/cream card (figure G).
