Steps:

1. Stamp your choice of design on the 4" x 4" card stock pieces.

2. Stamp the six smaller pieces of card stock as desired and punch or cut openings for the photos in all six pieces.

3. Tape or glue the photos in place to the back sides of these pieces.

4. Make outside of frame. Using a stamp pad or paint pen, color edges of mat board if desired. Glue two of the 4-inch pieces of card stock to cover one side on each mat board (figure A).

5. Glue two of the photo pieces in place to the center of the larger pieces (figure B). Flip boards photo side down, placed side by side with a small gap in between.

6. Cut ribbon into four 9-inch pieces. Attach ribbon ends to the mat board. Note: The ribbon is fastened so that it is attached near the center gap, but the length of ribbon falls across the center gap and over the opposite piece (figure C).

7. On the right panel, position two ribbons so they are 1/2 inch from the top and bottom edges, running parallel to the top and bottom of the mat board. Remember, the left ends of the ribbon will attach to the left panel near the center gap (also see figure C).

8. On the left panel, cross the ribbons to form an X. The right ends of these ribbons will attach to the left edge of the right panel. Be sure the overall height of the crossed pieces fall within the height of the inner measure of the two parallel ribbons (figure D).

9. Glue remaining 4-inch pieces of card stock in place, tucking outer ribbon ends under as you go (figure E). It is helpful to secure the center half of the card stock first, then tuck the ribbon ends under as you secure the outer edges. Use a small piece of release paper to keep the outer edges free while you arrange the ribbon ends (figure F).

10. Glue two more photos in place to the center of the larger pieces (figure G). You will need to close and reopen the frame from the opposite side to get under the crossed ribbon (figure H).

11. Glue remaining two photos back to back on the center of the crossed ribbons (figure I).
